Restaurant Marketing Tips for High Returns and Low Costs
Increasing sales needs to start with existing customers. Many times restaurateurs forget their best source of business are the people who frequent their operation the most.
The marketing tips below are for internal use and cost very little. However, they all help build sales and increase the customer’s satisfaction level. When guests leave happy, they tell other people. This word of mouth advertising is the least expensive and most rewarding type of business development.
- Mirror, mirror on the wall….. – Most restaurants have mirrors in both the mens’ and ladies’
restrooms. Few patrons go in a restroom without looking in the mirror. Try placing a well designed little note on the mirrors that say, “You deserve something special today. Try one of our desserts like the Chef’s classic peach bread pudding”. You can change the little note each week or every day. - Here’s your check …. – Don’t stop selling when you deliver the guest’s bill. Print a few labels that can advertise your gift cards, upcoming events or new menu offerings the following week. Put the label in a guest check book or on a tray. If you want to print small coupons for their next visit, add them when the check is presented.
- A Rose is a Rose …. – What is the next holiday? Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day, Easter – almost any special day will work. Just offer a special service that will place a rose at the seat of a significant other. For instance, when a reservation is made for Mother’s Day, you can offer to have a Rose and a note at the table for the honored Mother. Of course, you can charge extra for the service, but the real reward will be the great “extra” service that will impress all at the table. You will go beyond their expectations.
- Mom’s Relief, Grab it and Go … – Want to build your carry out business? Try a special night of the week that you offer a complete dinner, packaged family style at a fixed price per person. For instance, a complete shrimp feast for four may be priced at $35 which will include all the trimmings for a full meal, You can call this your Mom’s Relief Night. When looking for new business start with your regular guests.
You can be sure they will respond quickly and affirmatively, since they already know your product. There are over one hundred more marketing tips in Chapter Seven of The Restaurant Ebook. You also get access to the next 100 Marketing Tips as they are written.
